For many Latin American families, buying in Miami is not only an investment: it is a plan B, a place for their children to study, or the home where they will eventually live. In those cases, what the city offers day to day matters as much as the return.
This is what Miami offers beyond real estate.
Healthcare: Leading Hospitals in the U.S.
- Bascom Palmer Eye Institute: repeatedly ranked the No. 1 eye hospital in the United States.
- UHealth (University of Miami Health System): 3 hospitals, more than 30 outpatient centers and 1,800 physicians and scientists.
- Ryder Trauma Center (Jackson / UHealth): a Level 1 trauma center verified by the American College of Surgeons.
- Mount Sinai Medical Center: 33 locations in Miami-Dade County, with its main hospital in Miami Beach.
- Baptist Health South Florida: 467-bed acute care facility and Level II trauma center.
- Nicklaus Children's Hospital: 12 locations in Miami-Dade, specialized in pediatrics.
Many patients from Latin America already travel to Miami for treatment. Having a home in the city turns those trips into something much simpler.
Education: Universities and Private Schools
Universities: University of Miami, Florida International University (FIU), Miami Dade College, Barry University, Florida Atlantic University and a Babson College campus.
Highly rated private schools: Ransom Everglades, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, Columbus High School, Gulliver Preparatory, Belen Jesuit, Miami Country Day, Temple Beth Am and Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, among others.
A bilingual environment, with a large Latin American community, makes the transition much easier for children and teenagers.
Practical tip: if your children will study in Miami, the school or university often defines the area. Brickell and Downtown are close to many private schools; Coral Gables is home to the University of Miami; and Broward offers more family-oriented residential communities. See our guide to the areas.
Culture, Shopping and Sports
- Arts: Adrienne Arsht Center, Pérez Art Museum (PAMM), Frost Science Museum, New World Symphony, ICA Miami, Vizcaya Museum, the Wynwood district and Art Basel Miami Beach every December.
- Shopping: Brickell City Centre, Miami Worldcenter, Design District, Bal Harbour, Aventura Mall, Merrick Park, Dadeland and Sawgrass Mills.
- Sports: teams in the five major leagues — Inter Miami (MLS), Heat (NBA), Dolphins (NFL), Marlins (MLB) and Panthers (NHL) — plus the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, the Miami Open and, in 2026, matches of the FIFA World Cup.
- Dining: Brickell alone concentrates dozens of high-end restaurants, from Zuma and Cipriani to La Mar by Gastón Acurio.
Climate and Nature
- An average of 248 sunny days a year.
- More than 15 miles of beaches and 67 miles of inland waterways.
- The only U.S. city bordered by two national parks: the Everglades to the west and Biscayne to the east.
- One of the largest county park systems in the country, with more than 280 parks.
A Property You Can Also Enjoy
Buying in a city where you would like to spend time has an advantage that does not show up in the numbers: the property can generate income while you are not using it, and be your home when you are. Many of our clients start this way and, years later, move permanently.
